First, I should start with who Circa Survive is. They are a alternative rock group with a fantastic sound, and lyrics that, when you actually listen to them, make you really think about the meaning. Kicking your crosses down starts out as a softer song. The meaning I believe is that humans have a need to believe in something. "If the world is a dream and nothing is worth it unless you have a god". We are dependent on the belief that we are safe because there is someone looking over us. It says that if something important is taken away from us, we should not leave leave the space it occupied in our heart empty, but you should not try to replace it with something else important. I'm giving a special thanks to all the youtubers who helped me gain some great insite on their songs, and for the advice to get high while listening to this.
