First, I should start with who Circa Survive is. They are a alternative rock group with a fantastic sound, and lyrics that, when you actually listen to them, make you really think about the meaning. Kicking your crosses down starts out as a softer song. The meaning I believe is that humans have a need to believe in something. "If the world is a dream and nothing is worth it unless you have a god". We are dependent on the belief that we are safe because there is someone looking over us. It says that if something important is taken away from us, we should not leave leave the space it occupied in our heart empty, but you should not try to replace it with something else important. I'm giving a special thanks to all the youtubers who helped me gain some great insite on their songs, and for the advice to get high while listening to this. Also I have included the lyrics of this song because it is so complex. Please give me your own veiw, it would be most appreciated.

Billy Joel- It's Still Rock & Roll to Me
Billy Joel's It's Still Rock & Roll to me is a song that talks about the change of music styles but how much of it is just based off of Rock & Roll. It is also about the changing of times and refusing to have to change with them, to stick to your guns. "There's a new band in town, but you can't get the sound from a story in a magazine." He's talking about not letting yourself be controlled by what other people say or in the literal sense, write, about things. Go and find out for yourself. The call and answer style of the music shows a "the worlds against you" theme. The song talks against uniformity. It says, you are your own person, why do what they do if you don't want to. I find alot of meaning in the message from this song because I am not a follower. So keep being you and if people don't like you because of it, to bad. Its just who you are.

John Lennon- Imagine
For my first post, I wanted to put a song that is already known but still means alot to everyone. So I decided to do John Lennon's famous Imagine. It touches upon many feelings, a few of them are togetherness, peace, and no boundaries with each other. "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will live as one." Powerful words that have a simple message: There are already people helping out, so you should too. Not only do the lyrics have a powerful meaning but the music itself gives the feeling of hopefulness and togetherness. I believe he was one of the greatest musicians who ever lived. R.I.P.
