Billy Joel's It's Still Rock & Roll to me is a song that talks about the change of music styles but how much of it is just based off of Rock & Roll. It is also about the changing of times and refusing to have to change with them, to stick to your guns. "There's a new band in town, but you can't get the sound from a story in a magazine." He's talking about not letting yourself be controlled by what other people say or in the literal sense, write, about things. Go and find out for yourself. The call and answer style of the music shows a "the worlds against you" theme. The song talks against uniformity. It says, you are your own person, why do what they do if you don't want to. I find alot of meaning in the message from this song because I am not a follower. So keep being you and if people don't like you because of it, to bad. Its just who you are.
